ENROLMENT SCHEME
Appleby School has an enrolment scheme in place
OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENT APPLICATIONS FOR 2027
The Appleby School Board of Trustees invites applications from parents who live outside the school’s enrolment zone and who wish to enrol their children at Appleby School for 2027.
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available on our website: www.appleby.school.nz
Families who wish to apply should email the principal at admin@appleby.school.nz, stating the child’s full name, date of birth, current address, and 2027 Year level. The deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone places is 12 noon on 15 October 2026.
Parents of students who live within the home zone should also contact us by this date to assist the school to plan appropriately for next year, if they haven’t already done so.
The Board has determined that 20 places in New Entrants/Year 0 are likely to be available for out of zone students for 2027. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the zone and the number of Year Six students who remain at Appleby for their Year 7-8 schooling.
If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required it will be held on 20 October. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.Appleby School continues to experience positive roll growth, and with that comes the need to carefully manage our student numbers within our existing classroom capacity.
The board of Appleby School has implemented an enrolment scheme that has been developed by the Secretary for Education. Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the home zone described below. The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020. The enrolment scheme, which includes a precise description of the home zone, may be viewed at the link below.
We want to reassure families that all students currently enrolled will keep their place, regardless of where they live. Siblings of students currently enrolled will have preference for out-of-zone places.
